The talented Carrie Roseman did a boudior shoot in our store yesterday featuring the amazing lingerie of our very own Josie Jolon of Beneath the gown.

Following are the words from Carrie's blog post launching a few of her images~ Beneath the gown is.....

handmade couture and fine European Lingerie...
a sexiness that tingles you head to toe...
a sexy surprise for someone...
or just for you to slink your way through your day...
custom-fitted...attention to detail and texture and fit...
the best lingerie from the most heart-felt designer, fabricator, and creative spirit that I've met so far...
Beneath the Gown is Josie Jolon.

Her shop is located in Clinton, CT right above the White Dress by the Shore on the second floor. Josie's collection is breath-taking and emits the essence of woman like no other. Her bouncy spirit and warming manner immediately takes you in and delivers not only a shopping experience, but also personal, caring one-on-one customer service. As a provider of professional bra fittings and lingerie wedding consultations, Josie also makes time to fit the girl looking for that special something to put that little swing in her hips and strut in her stilettoes. Josie is one of the featured vendors at the upcoming Wedding Row event this Sunday 1-4pm, located at 104 East Main Street, Clinton, CT 06413. And I'm so excited that my photographs of her gorgeous lingerie will featured in her shop! Some of the following images will be on display at Beneath the Gown. Get ready for sexy, artsy, and beauty...

from inspiration to reality

You may remember that we teamed up with style me pretty on an inspiration board contest where style me pretty asked readers to design a board based on a wedding style that they would like to see come to life. The winning board was designed by Bran coprata on style me pretty's Style Circle.

Abby from style me pretty selected a team of vendors to bring the board to life in a photo shoot: Justin Marantz Photography, Hana Floral Design, True Event, Jennie Fresa Beauty, Grapevine Invitations and yours truely. Below you can see some shots of the finished product! To see additonal images, visit style me pretty.
Here are some quotes from Abby at style me pretty about the shoot:

"Our shoot was held at the Back Porch Restaurant in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. It’s this great little spot right on the water and served as the perfect backdrop. We wanted to throw a really girly, vintage inspired affair that was affordable and accessible on any budget. For the most part, everything was salvaged or DIY. We used vintage juice glasses for vases that we filled with an effortless collection of garden flowers (more on that later), little ice cream bowls packed tightly with carnations and a collection of mismatched found plates (you can also rent things like this). We used the restaurant’s flatware, homemade pies (baked by your truly), colanders filled with strawberries and old perfume and apothecary jars to accent the table."

Sarah True, the event designer behind the day, shares a bit of her vision for the shoot…

"Inspired by the bold colors and perfect combination of details, making the board come to life was so much fun. The design board created the perfect mood for an event, using color to create energy and ice cream, cherries, and the beach to illustrate a feeling of whimsy and nostalgia. Some of my happiest memories are at the beach , eating ice cream and soaking up the Summer. This is the emotion that this board taps into. So I thought all of those details were incredibly important at bringing the table to life to create the mood that was designed in the board. We used bright cherry red latte bowls for the bases of the flowers and a mix of vintage pink cut glasses. We found a polka dot linen from Party Rental to capture the playfulness of the board. Layering vintage linens from Yumiko’s personal collection over the polka dot linen helped us to blend the details of vintage and modern."
To watch a time lapsed video of the creation of the table click here. It is very cool!

Here is my take on the inspiration from a fashion perspective:
"When reviewing the amazing inspiration board that was selected, It evoked a 1950’s feel. The overall look that we were striving for was sweet and playful with a vintage twist. We selected a whimsical gown by Reverie by Melissa Sweet and styled it with 1950’s inspired oversized pearls, dainty white gloves and fabulous red shoes. We finished off the look with a custom made cherry red cage veil and brooch".

back from bridal market

We just returned from bridal market and are so excited about the new gowns that we found! Spring 2010 can be summed up in one word- Romantic. We saw lots of flowers and floaty fabrics. All of the dresses were very emotional.

Here is a wrap up of trends for Spring 2010:

  • Silhouette~ Ball Skirts and Fluted Skirts
  • Neckline~ Off the shoulder, V-ncks and One Shoulders. We also saw some boat necks and illusion necklines (that we loved)
  • Fabric~ Light and Airy Organza, Tulle and Chiffon. We saw alot of layering of fabrics either in the way of tiers or organza with floral appliques over lace
  • Details~ Flowers everywhere, lace, feathers. Where there was beading it was very chuncky
Here are some of our favorites from the runway:

southern charm | modern elegance

Quote from Sarah True of True Event (Hillary's planner and friend of TWD)~

Hillary and Jeff got married in Stonington, CT on one of the most gorgeous days of the season. It was the way I knew it would be for such a lovely bride, inside and out. I told Hillary that I wished I was from Kentucky after meeting her because of her elegance, southern charm, and delightful personality. We blended Kentucky details and Southern Charm with Modern Elegance to create a truly design worthy affair. And had one spectacular group of vendors that came together to make it a day guests will always remember. Congratulations Hillary and Jeff!
